LIVING VALUE FOR JUNE: FREEDOM & UNITY
Dear Parents / Caregivers
"Unity is strength, division is weakness" (Swahili Proverb)
This was certainly evident at our Big Walk on Saturday. What a wonderful feeling of unity and support for our Club Family event!Thank you to Ms Mtirara and all the Class Reps, we were able to raise R60 000.00, which is a record for the event. To all the class reps, you’ve taken on a difficult portfolio, but it is directly due to your efforts that we are able to bring the Saxonwold parents together.Well done!
We have bought a lot of "Saxonwold Supports SA”"T-shirts so that on "Rugby or Soccer or Netball" Fridays we are able to show our National support. We urge all our Parents and learners to buy one, not only does it save you money from having to buy all sporting code T-shirts but it is also a way to promote our school.Applications for our school are open for new learners Grade 000 - Grade 7 already and this will market our school.
RUGBY FRIDAY
Learners and staff may wear their "Saxonwold Supports SA" T-shirts and jeans on 10th June 2011 in support of the Rugby World Cup.T-shirts are on sale at the office. No other T-shirt will be allowed to be worn.If you do not have the Saxonwold supporter T-shirt you may come to school in your school uniform.
SCIENCE FOCUS
Our learners are "experimenting with experiments"! They will be conducting their experiments on the 28th & 29th June. The programme is as follows:
28th Grades 1,3,5 & 6
29th Grades 2,4 & 7
Parents are invited to come and participate in our Science Focus.
MEDIA MONITORING
We are very proud of Jead Stehr, Sydney Guillory, Shonees Arnolds, Jasmin Francis and Khanyisile Ndaba. They have been appointed as "Young Journalists" in the Media Monitoring Project. They will be trained in reporting skills, photography and writing skills.Soon we will read their stories.Well done!
Congratulations to Zeenat Maged who received a Bronze Medal in the Gauteng Gymnastics tournament.
GRADE 5 PARENTS
There will be an important meeting for all Grade 5 parents next Wednesday morning (15th June) at 07H30.The staff and I have great concerns around certain behaviour patterns of the Grade 5 learners which is preventing them from achieving their full potential. Please try to attend.
TRAFFIC RULES
There was a great deal of concern raised by our Club Family members about the traffic situation outside the school in the mornings and afternoons.
Parents - it is illegal to park facing oncoming traffic. Please do not do it.
At Saxonwold Primary it is compulsory for all learners to cross at the scholar patrol crossing, even if the parent is with him or her. Please obey this rule.
Please be considerate when parking to drop off or pick up your child.Do not double-park and please take one cars length when parking, do not park in the middle of a large gap in such a way that no other car can fit in front or behind you.Courtesy is a value we promote. Please respect the Scholar Patrol learners who are bravely trying to keep our roads safe. They are just doing their jobs.
