LIVING VALUE:TOLERANCE
Dear Parents / Caregivers
"H.I.V changed my life but it doesn't keep me from living" Magic Johnson
CLUB FAMILY has been a little silent this term due to parents being involved with their own work projects for the "World Cup". But that doesn't mean we've stopped the planning!
1.We are changing the date for our BIG WALK! It will take place on the 31 July 2010. That gives all our parents time to go to their companies and ask for some form of sponsorship i.e. branded items (rulers, pens, water bottles ... you name it we'll take it), prizes or cash! Mrs Varie has a sponsorship letter in the office for this purpose. Let's make this an event to be proud of!
2.Mr Ravat has generously donated 2 tickets to a World Cup match in Johannesburg, WOW! We will be raffling these tickets with other prizes.Your child will bring a raffle form home on Thursday. Please sell as many tickets as possible. The learner who sells the most tickets will win a bicycle.
3.We will be having a "Soccer Party" on 8th June at 16H30 to 18H30 where the raffle draw will be done, as well as the presentation of the awards for our "SCORE A GOAL FOR LITERACY" programme.
4.The SGB will also be launching "The Communicator", an innovative communication tool between school and parents. This will be launched on the 8th June prior to our "soccer party".
On the environmental front! Twitter and Facebook, our two young Eagle Owls, have been released into our school environment. A few exciting spottings of the owls have been made in the Saxonwold area.
The vegetable garden is growing well, with the spinach about to be harvested. Don't forget our compost heap, the empty printer cartridges and the aluminum foil recycling projects! The Eco-club is trying to introduce a culture of re-cycling into our school.
Congratulations to Jead Stehr and Lungile Ngwenya! They attended a leadership camp with the Johannesburg Children's Council and Jead was elected to the executive council as the Deputy Speaker of the House. We look forward to the projects that they will bring to the school.
Winning classroom for the month of April Grade 2W Mrs Waja Grade 5M Ms Mazila
Charity Cup winners, Grade 1F for two weeks running. Come on Club Family in the other classes, giving small change to charity is a very good value to instil in our learners!
Leading class in our "Score a goal for literacy" is Grade 2M - Ms Mgandela's class. South Africa's Bafana Bafana can learn a great deal from the enthusiasm of this class. Grade 3O is second with Grade 2W a close 3rd. 30 DAYS TO KICK OFF!
A reminder about school fees! You do need to pay or we'll adopt the strike fever (only joking), but many parents are renaging on their fee payments. Legal action will be taken.
