GENERAL NEWSLETTER NO. 2/2011                                                          1 February 2011

LIVING VALUE:  JANUARY - RESPONSIBILITY

Dear Parents / Caregivers

"Once the bee settles in the honeycomb it starts to make the honey" (Kikuyu Proverb).

We have reached the end of our 1st month of school, the settling in time is over, which means we all need to take our responsibilities seriously so that our children can produce the goods.
Next Wednesday to Friday all our Grade 2 to Grade 7 learners will be writing the Annual National Assessment Examination.  They will be writing two subjects:  Literacy (English) and Numeracy (Mathematics).  Please help your children revise for these tests.

Thank you to all the parents who attended the Meet & Greet, we had a fantastic attendance.  The spirit of volunteerism is alive and well in our community.  Some suggestions were made by parents with regards to setting-up working committees to tackle certain areas of need in our school:

- Sports committee - to address the improvement of the overall standard of sports at our school.
- Marketing committee - to distribute the "Good News" about our school.
- 75th Birthday committee - to project plan the biggest party for Saxonwold Primary in 2012.
If any of these committees appeal to you, please phone Mrs. Varie (0116465510) and leave your details and choice of committee.  Thank you.

As a Primary School we don't always have a bench mark to show "how we are doing" but we are very pleased to announce the achievement of our "past" students in the 2010 Matric Examination and other academic achievements.
