LIVING VALUE: JANUARY- RESPONSIBILITY

Dear Parents / Caregivers

"Bull horn never too heavy for bull head" African Proverb.

January is the month that we focus on the value of responsibility (not that we forget the others). As Educators and Parents I would like us to focus on our responsibility to educate and grow our children. How can you do this from home?

  • Make sure your child gets to school on time. Aim for 07h30 and ensure that your child is wearing the correct uniform. Being late causes undue stress both on the child and the teacher.
  • Your child needs to start the day with a healthy breakfast - (crisps and sweets do NOT provide them with the energy needed for sustained concentration).
  • Engage positively with your child about their day at school.
  • Check and sign the school diary every day; you might find little surprises in it.
  • Keep up-to-date with your school fees / aftercare fees, when you fall behind with payments, it changes our relationship with each other. Debit order authorisation forms are available at the office.
  • If your child is experiencing any difficulties at school, contact us as soon as possible.

Welcome to Saxonwold Club Family 2011. A warm welcome to all our Grade 1 and new families, you have selected a great school for your children. We welcome two new staff members to our team, Ms Lara Alexander takes up the post of Head of Department - Intersen Phase and Mrs Gillian Petersen is our new Grade 1 teacher. We look forward to working with both of you.

NB: 27th January - Meet ‘n Greet - Foundation Phase (Gr1-Gr3) 16h30 17h30

Intersen Phase (Gr4-Gr7) 17h30 - 18h30

This meeting is A MUST for all parents as it outlines the grade programme for the year. All your queries and concerns will be answered.

We'll put some boerewors on the braai so your supper will be catered for. See you on the 27th.

Administration Matters

  • The office is open from 07h30 - 14h30 Monday - Thursday and 07h30 - 13h30 on Fridays. An answering machine will take your messages after hours and your queries answered on the following school day.
  • All monies sent to the school must be in an envelope, clearly marked with the child's name, the amount and what the money is for.
  • Tuck shop: Food money must be the correct amount, change is difficult to get.
  • Children may NOT wait on the pavement all afternoon. They must either be collected immediately after school or be registered in our Aftercare Centre - R285.00 per month supervision only or R480.00 with lunch and supervision. Children who are on the pavement after 14H30 will not be supervised; the school does NOT take responsibility for the safety of the children. This is a serious matter, so please adhere to our code of conduct.

EXTRAMURALS

The term timetable has been sent home. Please encourage your child to take part in at least one sport and one cultural / creative activity. Children must commit to attending these activities every week for the term. Only the school can cancel an extramural activity due to weather conditions.

That's enough information for this letter!

Enjoy the week ahead.

Yours sincerely
