LIVING VALUE FOR JULY: FREEDOM & UNITY
"One stick can be broken but not a bundle of them." (Swahili Proverb)
Dear Parents / Caregivers
Welcome back to the start of the third term. We trust you all had a wonderful winter break and are ready to unite with us in ensuring the best education for your child. We welcome Mrs Kim Jones as the Grade 4M class teacher. She has replaced Mrs Mota, who has left due to the impending birth of her first child. We wish Ms Mota and her husband great joy and blessings. We also welcome Ms Tasfiyah Malek, who has replaced Ms Bezuidenhout in Grade Two. We know that they will both prove to be assets to our school.
Tuckshop
At the moment there is no set menu for the tuckshop lunches. The menu will be finalized in the near future. We ask that you bear with us. Lunches will still be available for purchase; the children will be advised each day what is on the menu. Please use the previous menu for price guidelines. No sweets or cooldrinks will be available until further notice.
Club Family
The focus for Club family this term will be on our Community Involvement Project. We are looking at offering our services to either TMI or Charlotte Maxexe Hospital to assist with painting and revamping some areas. This is in line with the 67 minutes of our time as per Tata Nelson Mandela's request. More information to follow shortly.
Extramurals
Our extramural programmed for the third term will start on Monday 25 July 2011. Your child will be given an extramural timetable. Please discuss this with your child and decide on his or her involvement. We encourage all learners to take part in the extramural programme every term. This assists towards the holistic development of your child.
Second Term Reports
The second term progress reports will be handed out on Thursday 28 July 2011 from 16h00 - 18h00. Please take this opportunity to meet with your child's teacher and discuss his or her progress. We look forward to seeing you all.
Language Survey
You will receive a letter with this newsletter detailing the language policy for the new curriculum (CAPS) which is to be implemented in 2012. We ask that you take the time to read it and consider your options, before completing the reply slip and returning it to school. It is very important that every family participate in this survey, so that the School Governing Body can make a decision based on your input.
Water bottles
We encourage every child to bring a water bottle to school, so that they can drink water regularly. The children are permitted to sip from their water bottles whenever they feel the need. Please encourage your child to carry a bottle of water. Please note that they may only have water in the bottles. Cooldrinks can be drunk during break times only.
Yours sincerely C.L. KOTWAL DEPUTY PRINCIPAL
