LIVING VALUE: SIMPLICITY & HUMILITY

Dear Parents / Caregivers

"Three rules of work: Out of the clutter find simplicity;;From discord find harmony; In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity" (Albert Einstein).

What better way was there to start our month of March than with a "Club Family" activity which totally encapsulated our Living Values of Simplicity and Humility? Parents gave freely of their time and skills to improve our environment. They then shared a very special picnic with their children and each other. Congratulations Club Family!

P.S. Remember to put the "paints" away, we now have a "bright yellow child"!

The Soccer World Cup has arrived at Saxonwold Primary in the form of "Score a goal for Literacy". Each class has drawn a country which is participating in the Soccer World Cup. For each book a child, parent / caregiver or teacher reads, the class scores a goal for their team. The team that scores the most goals in the "100 days to kick off" wins. The reader who scores the most goals in different age groups also wins. Every reader is a winner!
RULES:
1. Each book that is read must be age appropriate
2. Gr 1 - Gr 3 retell the story to their teacher
3. Gr 4 - Gr 7 write a short book review
4. Mom, Dad, Caregivers write a short review and put it in your child's homework diary - a goal will be awarded
5. Take photographs of your family reading for us to put on our website.

A box to swop books will be kept in the library. If you have old books lying around the house, send them to school and they can go into the "Swop box". Everyone is invited to come and pick a book to read.

DATES TO DIARISE

THURSDAY 25TH MARCH - Parent / Teacher / Learner interviews - Progress reports handed out
THURSDAY 25TH MARCH - Inter-house gala 10:00a.m. ALL invited
FRIDAY 26TH MARCH - Last day of term - school closes at 12:00p.m. Aftercare as usual.

MORNING TRAFFIC: We are finding that parents STILL disobey the traffic rules by parking illegally when dropping their children off at school. Please may I ask parents not to disobey traffic rules, for the sake of our children? Parents are also parking in the area where the scholar patrol has to be on duty. Please, do not park on the road directly before or after the staff parking gate, closest to the school main gate.

Yours sincerely
